Recent Raku Firing
Raku is a rapid firing technique in which the glazed object is removed from the kiln while still red-hot and placed in a reduction chamber with combustible material. The result is a decorative pot in a rainbow of colors, textures and finishes. Sometimes the pieces are burnished and unglazed, then finished with horsehair, feathers or other objects burned onto the surface of the red hot pot, leaving interesting surface patterns of black carbon. Raku pots are porous and are not food safe. They are for decorative use only.
